At my school, the day was always started with an assembly of students, teachers and also the principal. Class prefect usually lead the queue of pupils into the grand auditorium, all in a disciplined and arranged manner. Of course it was the headache of the Class Prefect to set us right and take us fit! What a worry for my dear Prefect friend, I thought…How was he eager to be a Prefect? I saw him striving to be Perfect! No doubt he was an able commander and did his job up to the class teacher’s satisfaction.

Everyday assembly was for half an hour, comprising a Christian prayer from the Hymn book, elaborating a verse from the Bible by a teacher, news reading, important notice, etc…The “thoughts of the day” used to be the last content for the grand gathering. This was something which was always my personal favourite. Others were simply boring for my eyes and ears. I remember the moment when the prayer was being recited by our teachers…I rarely closed my eyes and most of the time fancied looking at my friends who closed their eyes and seemed to be confused monks with folded palms. I made fun of them silently in my mind and laughed within, but as soon as the prayer was over I calmed myself and seemed very composed as if I was the giver of the Holy prayer!

I pondered only upon the thing that I liked the most, “thoughts of the day”. Every assembly gave me a different thought and every thought gave me a different thinking…Although I was poor at thinking at that time, but still I was thinking deeply on the “thoughts of the day”. A “thought” created so many thoughts in my mind that I could donate a lot of “thoughts” to my school for so many days to come. My thoughts were just the products of the “thoughts of the day” but undoubtedly they were omnipotent.

Today my “thoughts” have made me potent. My thinking has somehow developed, but still I miss the way I was thinking when I wasn’t physically and mentally developed.Yes, I am talking about my school days. The days when I talked like a kid and thought like a kid.But a blessing and guidance was always present with me like my best friend. The “thoughts of the day”is my old school friend…
